Frequently asked questions
Are electronic signatures legally valid?
Yes. Brazil's MP 2.200-2/2001 accepts electronically signed documents when the parties agree to the signing method, and Law 14,063/2020 defines the types of electronic signature. The Signer keeps the evidence that proves who made each signature.
How is this different from a digital certificate signature?
A signature with an ICP-Brasil certificate (qualified) requires each person to have a certificate. The Signer's electronic signature doesn't need one and proves identity through a code, a selfie and technical records, which covers most private contracts.
Does the signer need an account?
No. They receive the link by email, confirm the code and sign on their phone or computer.
Is the selfie mandatory?
No. You choose, document by document, whether face detection will be required.
How can someone check the document is genuine?
Using the 12-digit ID printed on every page, on the verification page. Verification shows the signature details, but never the document's content or the photo.
Where are documents stored?
On servers in Brazil, with access restricted to the users on your account.
